American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of current CVICU experience and NJ or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting in a hospital environment
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2, which may vary if floated
• Patient population includes fresh heart surgery cases, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and chronic/acute renal failure patients
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units
• Every other weekend and holiday required, as applicable
• Uses specialized equipment including Impella, IABP, and CRRT via Prismax

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax, or experience with fresh heart cases required
• Skilled in post-op open heart recovery, Swan-Ganz, FloTrac, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes
• Experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Stroke CEUs preferred
• Two current professional references required
• Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to post-cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular patients
• Manage ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
• Perform continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade management as needed
• Support renal replacement therapy (CVVHD/CRRT) for patients with renal failure

• Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible for this assignment
• Time off requests must be submitted and approved prior to receiving an offer; requests made after acceptance will not be accommodated
• Clinicians must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays unless otherwise specified
