American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Medical-Surgical unit at a correctional facility in Illinois, requiring an active IL LPN license and experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting.

Details

• Work setting is a correctional health facility
• Medical-Surgical unit with float requirements across the facility and potentially to other Cook County facilities within 50 miles at the facility's discretion
• Scheduled for day shifts (11:00–23:30), 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
• Charting via Cerner
• Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Requirements

• Active Illinois LPN license required (no pending license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing in Illinois
• Current BLS certification
• Successful completion of a Pharmacology/Medication Administration course for Practical Nurses in accordance with IDFPR standards (documentation may be requested)
• 2 years of recent full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred
• Proof of COVID vaccination required — no exceptions
• Willingness and ability to float to various units, including outside primary area of competency, as directed by the facility
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• This is a mandatory float facility — clinicians may be floated to any Cook County facility up to 50 miles away, with as little as 2 hours' notice before a shift; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
• When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is utilized
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days at a time
• Weekend RTO will not be approved
• No RTO on holidays or the day immediately before or after a holiday
• No special or block scheduling requests will be accommodated
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Holiday coverage is required
