American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry/Renal Unit position in Charlotte, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and proficiency in a broad range of telemetry and renal patient care skills.

• Hospital setting located in Charlotte, NC with 207 licensed beds, designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Assignment to the 3N Medical Telemetry/Renal Unit, a 31-bed unit
• Patient population includes end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health diagnoses
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 (up to 1:7–8 during critical surge); CNA ratio of 1:6–12
• Skills required include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain and tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and PCA pumps
• Medication drip management required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
• EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned region (Region 1: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics); candidates who are not agreeable to regional floating should not apply

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11a–7p and 11p–7a), a resource nurse (as staffing allows), respiratory therapy (24/7), a hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes facility new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
• Scheduling occurs on a 6-week cycle

• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
