American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Antepartum (Women's Special Care) position at a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 1 year of antepartum experience and specific perinatal certifications.

Details

• Work setting is a 554-bed Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, and academic teaching hospital in New Mexico
• Assignment is in the Women's Special Care – Antepartum unit
• Patient population includes antepartum and postpartum patients with a broad range of maternal complications, gynecological, surgical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and other complex diagnoses; pediatric patients aged 12 and older may also be assigned
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, improving to 1:4 on weekends
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Schedule may consist of 36- or 48-hour workweeks
• Floating is required per unit needs, primarily to the main PCU; up to 10 other PCUs may be assigned, which include PCU-level patients boarding in the ED and PACU
• No on-call requirement
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Parking is available at no cost
• Weekend work is required per unit needs

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license will be considered
• Minimum 1 year of antepartum nursing experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and either AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate (not both)
• Proficiency required in Non-Stress Tests, telemetry interpretation, administration of blood and blood products, venous blood draws, peripheral IV insertion and maintenance, and infusion pump/drip/IV monitoring
• Experience required with antepartum-specific pharmacology including anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate therapy, and pitocin
• Proficiency required with PCA, Foley catheter insertion, perineal care, wound assessment and care, and external fetal monitoring
• Experience with vaginal delivery, cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension required
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Black scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
• COVID vaccination is optional; however, documentation of vaccination series or a signed declination is required
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility must take a 6-month break before returning
• New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in length
