American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN with at least 1 year of cardiac stepdown experience for a night shift position on a Cardiac Medical Intermediate unit in Saint Louis, MO.

• Inpatient Cardiac Medical Intermediate unit in Saint Louis, MO
• 32-bed unit serving post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3 to 1:4
• Specialized equipment includes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
• Epic EMR
• Night shift schedule: 1900–0730 (4x12)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• May be required to float to a similar or lower acuity unit as needed
• 24-week contract

Requirements

• Current LPN license — must be eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac stepdown experience
• Current BLS certification from AHA only
• IV certification as verified through Nursys
• U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
• No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
• No certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment, unless documentation of scheduled renewal is provided
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.

Additional Information

• Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidates must be available the entire orientation week
• Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Scrub color is all black with a Mercy logo on top; hoodies, non-Mercy jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails are not permitted
• Must be a team player and promote a positive unit culture
• The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
