Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at a Level 2 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Portsmouth, NH, requiring strong telemetry and vasoactive medication titration skills.

Details

• ICU assignment within a 25-bed intensive care unit on main campus
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12 shifts per month (3 shifts per week)
• Patient ratio of 2:1
• 4 weekend shifts required per month
• Unit is supported by around-the-clock mid-levels, trauma surgeons, and respiratory therapists; PT/OT available during day shift only; no LNAs or PCTs on unit
• Procedures performed on unit include intubation, central line and arterial line placement, and chest tube placement
• Equipment used includes GE Monitors, Hamilton BiPAPs and high-flow devices, Puritan ventilators, and Hemospheres
• Documentation via Meditech Expanse
• Floating is required on a rotation basis, with travelers floating first
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NH or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for ICU RNs
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Strong telemetry skills required
• Experience titrating vasoactive and inotropic medications required
• Chest tube experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• Professional reference(s) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Preferred skills include open heart experience, temporary pacing, and Swan-Ganz catheter experience — candidates with these qualifications will be prioritized
• Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Three Star STS Open Heart Program
• Bedside shift report is completed at each change of shift with MyCare boards updated each shift
• Schedule is built around approved RTO by department leadership
• Scrubs required; color is not specified
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
