American Traveler is seeking an RN for a PCU Float Pool position on nights, requiring an Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1 year of step-down/PCU experience.

• Hospital-based PCU Float Pool position
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• 13-week assignment length
• Estimated patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Float pool role may require floating to another OSU-affiliated hospital within short walking distance
• May be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Cardiac telemetry and step-down/PCU/IMC patient population
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license in hand at time of submission (Ohio or compact license required)
• Minimum 1 year of solid step-down/PCU nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and IV start skills required
• Telemetry monitoring experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a manager/director, supervisor, or charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to cardiac telemetry and step-down/PCU patients, including monitoring for dysrhythmias and responding to Rapid Response/Code teams
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration, and administer procedural sedation with monitoring
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care may be utilized
• Wound care/wound vac management and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge may be required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management may be needed
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to strict processing timelines
• Candidates located outside Ohio but within driving distance will be required to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• Requested time off must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
