American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position requiring Level II Trauma experience, TNCC certification, and advanced critical care skills on a night shift schedule.

• High-acuity, 71-bed Emergency Department that functions at a Level I trauma capacity despite Level II designation
• Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratios: 1:4 in the ED, 1:5 for MS holds, and 1:3 for ICU holds
• EMR: Cerner (Epic experience also accepted); Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors in use
• 12-hour night shifts (7:00p–7:00a); 36 hours per week with potential for 48
• Available shift times include 7p–7a, 3p–3a, and 11a–11p
• Weekend rotation every other weekend, or 4 weekend days per month on a block schedule
• 4-week scheduling cycle
• No floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted)
• First-time travelers must have at least 2 years of experience, including Cerner or Epic EMR experience and Level II Trauma or higher experience
• Experienced travelers must have at least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ED, or MS hold) with the most recent year in a Level II ED
• Cerner or Epic EMR experience preferred
• Required clinical skills: trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port access, Foley catheter, splint/ortho device application and care, BiPAP/high-flow oxygen therapy, and continuous bladder irrigation
• A reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months required for consideration
• DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
• Copies of all certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy (available until 3:00 AM), IV/VAT team, and hospitalists
• New travelers and return travelers absent for 1 or more years will complete 24 hours of classroom orientation followed by 24 hours of on-unit orientation
• Orientation for rehires is determined based on the last date worked at the facility
• Facility conducts interviews via SimpliFi; candidates should be prepared for the interview process
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
• The facility observes annual RTO blackout dates; up to 7 days of time off may be approved excluding those blackout dates
