American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pre-Admission Services position requiring active Oregon and Washington RN licenses and a minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.

Details

• Outpatient pre-admission/pre-operative clinic setting
• Focused on pre-operative patient assessments and surgical risk evaluations conducted via telephone consultations and in-person visits
• Patient population consists of adults scheduled for surgical procedures requiring pre-operative clearance and preparation
• Collaborates closely with anesthesia providers (anesthesiologists, CRNAs), surgeons, nurse practitioners, and perioperative care teams
• Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Monday through Friday, day shift (0800–1630), 5x8-hour shifts per week
• Travelers may be floated to other departments where qualified before core staff is floated

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Oregon and Washington RN licenses required
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
• CRASE training required (may be completed if assignment extends beyond 6 months)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
• Previous surgical or perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required; BSN preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Proficiency with clinical equipment including EKG, vital sign monitoring devices, glucometer, and scales
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and independent clinical judgment skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and assist with patients weighing over 100 lbs using appropriate techniques or aids
• International candidates are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Conducts comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergy review, and risk stratification using evidence-based screening tools
• Coordinates pre-operative testing, specialist consultations, and medical clearances based on individual patient risk and procedure type
• Documents assessments and manages Epic InBasket messages, patient portal communications, and pre-operative orders
• Provides individualized patient and family education on pre-operative preparation, NPO guidelines, medication management, and post-operative expectations
• Participates in multidisciplinary care planning for high-risk surgical patients
• Adheres to OSHA, HIPAA, and DNV compliance standards; participates in required DNV program education as applicable
• Specialty certifications such as CPAN, CAPA, or CNOR are preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred
• 12-week contract
