American Traveler is seeking a Chemo Certified Oncology RN with Hematology/Oncology and Navigator/Case Manager experience for an outpatient transplant coordinator role focused on cellular therapy and peripheral blood transplants.

Details

• Outpatient clinic setting specializing in peripheral blood transplant and cellular therapy
• Transplant Coordinator role managing patients across all phases: candidate identification, workup/evaluation, cell harvest, and cellular therapy infusion or transplant
• Patient population includes those with hematologic malignancies
• Coordinators manage 8+ active patient cases at a time, coordinating appointments and tracking progress across a required timeline
• Daily schedule involves patient meetings, appointment coordination, and interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians and staff
• EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (5x8-hour days)
• No call, float, or weekend requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Hematology/Oncology experience required
• Navigator or Case Manager experience required
• Experience in both acute hospital and outpatient clinic settings required
• Pre-transplant evaluation and assessment experience required
• Proficiency in interpreting lab results and diagnostic tests related to transplant required
• Skills required: monitoring vital signs, weight, fluid balance, and graft function; reviewing diagnostic and laboratory data; coordinating all patient care needs before, during, and after transplantation; patient/family education; scheduling and tracking pre- and post-transplant testing; adherence to transplant center protocols; understanding of post-transplant health maintenance and long-term care; Universal Precautions; HIPAA compliance; waitlist criteria knowledge
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously required
• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Additional Information

• Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
• Preferred skills include: familiarity with absolute and relative contraindications to transplant, organ allocation processes, post-transplant care coordination, psychosocial support and patient/family education, identification and management of transplant complications (infection, rejection), familiarity with organ-specific diseases (e.g., ESRD, cirrhosis, heart failure), medication adherence teaching, pharmacology relevant to transplant patients, and regulatory outcome tracking
• Orientation is approximately 40 hours and continues on an ongoing basis throughout the assignment; pre-start modules (approximately 4–5 hours) are also required
• Scrubs are not provided by the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay rate
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent, PRN, or per diem staff must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday, and any additional RTO requires facility approval
• Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are permitted; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
• An interview with the manager is required prior to any offer being extended
