American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for an acute care hospital position requiring prior travel experience, ortho and robotics experience, and Epic proficiency with on-call rotation responsibilities.

Details

• Acute care hospital operating room with 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room averaging 35–45 cases per day
• OR is open 24/7 covering a wide range of surgical specialties including general, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, robotic (da Vinci and Rosa), neuro spine, vascular, peds (dental and ENT), trauma, and emergent cases — all surgical cases except CVOR and L&D/C-sections
• Scheduled for 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Weeknight on-call rotation: one weeknight per two-week period, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend on-call rotation: one 24-hour on-call shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) per month
• Holiday on-call rotation required as needed
• Call response time: 30 minutes; candidates who live more than 30 minutes from the facility and are on call may be required to stay on-site
• Floating to outpatient surgery is required as needed
• No self-scheduling for travelers; block scheduling considered if it meets unit needs
• OR staff is comprised almost entirely of travelers
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Orientation: 3 shifts over 1 week

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2–3 years of OR experience required
• Minimum 2–3 prior travel assignments required
• Orthopedic surgical experience required
• Experience passing arms in and out for robotic surgery (da Vinci) required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Evening, night, and weekend shift candidates must have experience across all surgical specialties
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• 2 supervisor/peer references required for consideration (including 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required
• Copies of certifications and driver's license required
• 7-year work history required (or from graduation, whichever is less), with no gaps greater than 30 days

Additional Information

• OR techs handle room turnover, as there are no aides or housekeeping staff assigned to the OR
• Day shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM) candidates with limited experience in one service line may be considered if willing to learn or refresh in a supported service line
• Evening, night, and weekend shift candidates must be independently proficient across all specialties
• Scrub experience is a plus but not required for RNs
• Scrubs are provided for both RNs and OR techs
• Travelers rotate through charge nurse responsibilities; overnight RN is the sole RN on shift alongside 2 techs and must be comfortable working independently in that capacity
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
• Candidates who have reached one cumulative year of experience within the WVU system must take a 2-year break before returning (cumulative experience applies)
• All candidates interview directly with a unit manager
