American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ED RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level 1 pediatric trauma center in Arkansas, requiring at least 2 years of pediatric specialty experience.

• Pediatric Emergency Department in a 359-bed, Level 1 trauma teaching hospital — the only pediatric Level 1 trauma center in the state
• 39-bed ED unit averaging 200 patients daily (65,000+ annually), with approximately 40% of patients transferred from other hospitals
• Patient population ranges from birth to under 21 years old (with occasional adult patients), covering minor illness through major trauma
• No in-house psychiatry or psychiatric beds; 2 safe rooms available for acute psychiatric patients who are medically stabilized and transferred
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1–3/4 in main ED; 1:5/6 in Fast Track
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required; holidays required as needed; no on-call responsibilities
• Floating is not required
• Equipment includes Sigma and Med Fusion 3500 Syringe Pump IV pumps

Requirements

• Active AR RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS required
• TNCC and ENPC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a pediatric setting at a large Level 1 trauma hospital
• At least 1 professional reference from within the last year
• Candidates must be nicotine-free (negative nicotine test required)
• Specialty skills checklist required for consideration

Additional Information

• Travelers are not responsible for triage and will not handle SANE cases
• RNs perform PIV insertion and phlebotomy; Paramedics also perform PIV/IO insertion, medication administration, splinting, and ALS team duties
• PCTs handle vitals, stocking, EKGs, POCT, room cleaning, and ADLs
• RTs manage ventilators; pharmacy responds to all codes; standardized airway carts available in-unit
• Physician-initiated orders only — pathways used, not protocols
• Security measures in the ED include metal detectors and an off-duty police officer present from 1500–2300
• 3 days of orientation and specialty testing are required upon start
• ACH dress code policy must be followed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates living within 60 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay rate
• The unit frequently hosts return travelers during winter and high-census periods
