American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - Surgical First Assist for a 13-week OR contract in Paducah, KY, requiring a valid RN First Assist certification and on-call availability every other night and weekend.

• Hospital Operating Room (OR) setting within a Surgical Services department
• Day shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
• 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
• On-call required every other night and every other weekend
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license — KY state or Compact license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• RN First Assist certification required: CNOR or RNFA
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• 2+ years of prior nursing experience as a First Assist preferred
• MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Copies of certifications and license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for perioperative nursing care spanning preoperative preparation, intraoperative assistance, and transition to recovery
• Assists the surgical team in case preparation, room setup, and post-procedure room breakdown
• Selects appropriate equipment and supplies based on the specific surgical procedure
• Performs instrument and needle counts in accordance with facility policy
• Maintains aseptic technique and adheres to AORN standards of care
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical pharmacology and anesthesia adjuncts
• Administers medications and performs treatments per facility policies and procedures
• Supports room turnaround efficiency and responsible utilization of resources
