American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position at a children's hospital in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and hands-on experience with vents, trachs, and G-tubes.

Details

• Work in a 39-bed Pediatric Stepdown unit within a children's hospital, covering all pediatric specialties on a single inpatient unit
• Patient population spans newborns (2 weeks) to 18 years old, with 50–60% of patients having some form of technology dependence (e.g., chronic ventilators, tracheostomies)
• Acute care focus on patients with chronic illness; no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3–4
• Schedule options: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts accepted; night shift runs 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling available
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Meditech

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required at time of consideration — compact RN licenses are not accepted in IL
• Current certifications: BLS and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, and G-tubes required
• Experience with a 1:4 patient ratio required
• Meditech EMR experience required
• PICU experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to pediatric patients with chronic illness and complex technology dependence, including those on chronic ventilators with tracheostomies
• Flu vaccine required; medical and religious exemptions accepted
• Any requested time off must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date — no RTO may be added after the contract begins

• Scrubs may be any color; neat and clean appearance required — pediatric-themed scrubs are encouraged
