American Traveler is seeking an experienced CLS and Lab Manager for a 26-week travel contract, requiring a CA CLS license and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Details

• Clinical laboratory setting within a healthcare district
• Responsible for overseeing all Clinical Laboratory functions including staffing, scheduling, training, and budgeting
• Manages a department requiring 24/7 laboratory coverage
• Works closely with the Pathologist, department physicians, and district administration

Requirements

• Active CA licensure as a Medical Technologist or in a specialty area (Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Microbiology)
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience required
• Laboratory certification preferred (HEW, ASCP, AMT, or NCA)
• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and testing procedures
• Basic computer knowledge required
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages preferred
• DOB and SSN may be required for consideration

Additional Information

• Oversees laboratory staff hiring, evaluation, scheduling, and performance management, including 6-month and annual reviews
• Develops and manages the department's annual budget with a focus on cost-effective operations
• Establishes and monitors performance standards and ensures consistent quality control documentation
• Plans and coordinates staff development, in-services, continuing education, and department meetings
• Evaluates new testing methods, instrumentation, and products prior to implementation
• Ensures 24/7 laboratory coverage, including arranging coverage when staff call out
• Maintains compliance with all state, federal, and other regulatory requirements
• Performs all duties in a safety-conscious manner and upholds patient and employee confidentiality
