American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position in Downers Grove, IL, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and Epic proficiency on 12-hour night shifts.

• Work in a 313-bed, Level 1 Trauma Center with Magnet Designation, Primary Stroke Center, Comprehensive Cardiac Center, and a Geriatric Accredited ED
• Emergency Department consists of 28 beds, 11 hallway beds, and 4 triage rooms
• Patient population is predominantly 65+ with multiple comorbidities, with high volumes of sepsis, DKA, MI, stroke, IVDA, ETOH, and ortho-trauma cases, as well as a heavy psych and addiction population
• Average ED volume of approximately 120 visits per day
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–6 based on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts, 6p–6a, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend (or potentially every weekend depending on the requisition)
• 50% of holidays are required to be worked within the contract period
• No floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Philips bedside monitors with nurse's station telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC; CPI/MOAB preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required; Level 1 Trauma experience preferred but not required
• Trauma certification required
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, critical care drip management, TPA administration, conscious sedation, and splinting assistance
• Proficiency in NGT placement, IV starts, Foley placement, and wound care
• Stroke experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year
• Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

• Charge nurse is not included in the staffing matrix but is actively involved in bedside care and serves as clinical support

• Orientation consists of a New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 1 shift of unit orientation
• Scheduling is staff-driven via self-scheduling; available shifts are opened to travelers after the schedule is balanced
• RTO requests must be approved by the manager
