American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level I trauma center's Observation Unit, requiring a compact or OK RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed Observation and Medical-Surgical Unit with telemetry capability at a Level I trauma center
• Care for a diverse patient population of all ages
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Supported by PCTs, a healthcare unit coordinator, virtual sitter monitoring, and monitor techs for telemetry patients
• Night shift schedule from 18:30-07:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to work up to 6 weekend shifts and holidays as needed based on department needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or OK) currently in hand
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Implement and monitor patient care plans, documenting and communicating patient condition
• Serve as primary coordinator across disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• Work as part of a collaborative nursing team supported by PCTs and a unit secretary
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, stressful environment using critical thinking and decisive judgment
• Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Radius rule applies; local candidates accepted at a reduced rate depending on distance from facility
