American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large academic Level 1 trauma hospital, requiring both scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery.

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 1,266 staffed beds, classified as an academic teaching facility and Level 1 trauma center
• CVOR unit handling primarily cardiac and thoracic cases, with additional procedures including vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures
• Both scrubbing and circulating are required in this role
• Day shift schedule with rotating start times (3x12-hour shifts, 6:15 AM–6:45 PM) Monday through Friday
• On-call required as needed — approximately 3–4 weekday and 1–2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule, with actual frequency determined by unit needs
• Weekend call required per unit call policy
• Floating within the cardiovascular service line required to meet facility needs
• Epic EMR used for charting; experience with Epic is required
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Holiday coverage required; holidays discussed with staff in advance

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license candidates may be considered with a note
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if that experience was gained at a Level 1 trauma facility
• Demonstrated scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery required
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• BSN preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are considered only if they have more than 2 years of CVOR experience at a Level 1 trauma facility
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before working as a traveler at any BJC location
• Navy scrubs required
