American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a travel contract in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a minimum of 3 years of fast-paced ED experience and a full suite of emergency certifications.

Details

• Level IV Trauma Center and Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center teaching hospital located in Milwaukee, WI
• Emergency Department with 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms, averaging 168 patients per day
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, with a heavy mental health presence and trauma cases including GSW, stabbings, MVCs, and falls
• Invasive neuro and STEMI cases are stabilized and transferred; trauma cases are managed on unit
• Patient ratios: 1:4 (acuity-based) for standard ED; 1:6 for fast track
• 10-hour day shifts, 0900–1900, with weekday shifts running 11a–11p and weekend shifts 3p–3a
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• EMR: Epic (experience required); equipment includes Alaris pumps and Pyxis
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a fast-paced emergency department setting
• Skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV placement, critical care drip and medication administration, TPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, code blue response, and NIHSS assessment
• NIHSS experience must be held prior to start date — it cannot be obtained after placement begins
• Triage experience strongly preferred
• At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
• Candidate's full middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

• Administer emergency and critical care nursing to a diverse patient population across triage, trauma, fast track, and standard ED settings
• 24/7 support includes unit secretary, ED techs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, ED physicians, mid-level providers, OT/PT/ST, and security
• Unit is a locked environment with security stationed in the ED lobby
• Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available
• Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts on the unit
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 major holidays (every other)
• Any color professional scrubs are acceptable
• Free parking available in designated employee areas
• First-time travelers may be considered on a case-by-case basis with strong ED experience
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
