Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/IMU position requiring telemetry strip reading and drip titration skills, with night shift scheduling at an acute care hospital in West Virginia.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting, Intermediate Care Unit (IMU)
• 18-bed Stepdown unit with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes post-MI with sheath pull, ADHF, post-op vascular, GI bleed, and DKA
• RNs are required to read telemetry strips for all patients — no monitor techs
• RNs titrate drips including Nitroglycerin (up to 150 mcg/kg/min), Neo (up to 100 mcg/min), and Cardene (up to 10 mg/hr)
• BiPAP and CPAP equipment used on the unit
• One PCT available per shift
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating schedule (approximately every other holiday)
• Floating required on a PRN basis
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown or IMU nursing experience required
• Telemetry strip reading experience required
• Drip titration experience required
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• EKG testing (pass/fail) is required for this Stepdown unit
• All candidates undergo a direct manager interview
• Submission profile must include 7 years of work history (or from graduation, whichever is less), two references (at least one supervisor), a skills checklist completed within the past year, and copies of certifications and driver's license
• Royal blue scrubs required; undershirts may be white, royal blue, or black
