American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room/Surgery position in Lake Charles, LA, requiring at least 1 year of OR experience and active LA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Day shift position, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday
• On-call or late shifts required 1–3 times per week, with every 3rd to 4th weekend (Friday–Sunday) on-call coverage
• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Cases include Pain (injections, Kyphoplasty), ENT (ear tubes, tonsils, sinus, thyroid), Urology (cysto, TURP, PCNL, Lithotripsy, robotic sacrocolpopexy, partial nephrectomy), Gynecology (total laparoscopic hysterectomy, ablations, lap gyn, D&C), Podiatry, General Surgery (chole, appy, hernias), and some Orthopedics (hip pinning, knee scope, shoulder scopes)
• L&D is a separate unit — no C-sections or deliveries
• Primarily assigned to the OR; may be asked to float between two campuses
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of OR/surgical nursing experience required
• BSN preferred
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates

• Provides routine and complex perioperative nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education
• This position has the potential to convert to a permanent role

• SSN required for consideration
