American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long-Term Care position at a nursing home setting, requiring BLS certification and at least one year of experience with elderly populations.

Details

• Post-acute care setting in a 70-bed nursing home attached to a hospital, with the majority of private rooms
• Patient population includes elderly residents with dementia, frailty, and rehabilitation needs
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:20; LPN ratio is 1:20; CNA ratio is 1:8
• EMR system is ECS (currently transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating may be required

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience working with elderly patients required
• Proficiency with IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, and related clinical skills required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge nurse duties, medication administration, and hands on clinical skills such as IVs, caths, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and respiratory therapy (on-site 24/7)
• Physician available after hours and DON/Charge Nurse/House Supervisor on staff
• On-site pharmacy with medication dispensing system available
• Scrubs should be any solid color, clean and professional
• Orientation length varies based on individual skills
• Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
• Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and facility approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
