American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract requiring 3+ years of ER experience and certifications including ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC.

Details

• Acute care hospital Emergency Room/Urgent Care setting with 19 ED/Urgent Care beds
• Common diagnoses include STEMI, trauma, stroke, COPD, CHF, and sepsis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5; nurse aides are present on occasion but not consistently
• 24/7 Respiratory Therapy available in-house for vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• No monitor techs on unit; ER nurses are responsible for interpreting cardiac strips
• Titration of drips including Propofol, Cardizem, and insulin is required
• Charting is done in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts, 1830–0700
• Every third weekend required (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Every other holiday required
• No floating requirements
• Low census call may occur on occasion

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC
• Ability to interpret cardiac strips
• Ability to titrate drips including Propofol, Cardizem, and insulin
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 1 day of house-wide training followed by 1-2 days of department-specific orientation
• Charge nurse experience is preferred; charge nurses may take patient assignments
• Willingness to train as House Supervisor is a plus
• No required scrub colors
• Self-scheduling is not available; block scheduling is available to some extent for night shift
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
