American Traveler is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring at least 2 years of psych experience plus recent med/surg experience, with float responsibilities across multiple facilities.

Details

• Behavioral Health unit in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:12 with tech support
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• One weekend shift required per week (Friday does not count as a weekend day)
• No on-call requirements
• Float required PRN across three facilities within a 24-mile radius (Mesa, Roosevelt, and Maryvale locations)
• Must be willing to float down to Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) role PRN

Requirements

• Active AZ RN license or compact license recognized in Arizona required prior to consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg (M/S) experience within the last 5 years required (must be from a dedicated M/S or true psych M/S unit — floating experience does not qualify)
• Proficiency in tube feedings, NG tube insertion and maintenance, Foley catheter insertion and maintenance, IV insertion and maintenance, and voluntary/involuntary commitment processes
• Must be willing to perform charge nurse responsibilities across all areas, including med-psych
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Provides psychiatric nursing care to a mixed-age inpatient population, including patients with minor med/surg needs
• Orientation is 2 weeks long, held on day shift only, beginning on Tuesdays
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification is preferred and offered on-site
• Blackout dates with no approved time off: July 3–6 and September 4–7
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they come from a like facility
