American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Correctional Nursing position at a detention center in Albuquerque, NM, specializing in addictions medicine with night shift 4x12 scheduling.

Details

• Work setting is a detention center correctional facility
• Primary assignment is in the Addictions Medicine department, with expectation to learn all posts within the correctional setting
• Patient population includes individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD), alcohol use disorder (ETOH), and poly-substance use
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No parking fee at the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and MOAB (facility will provide MOAB if not already held)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Must be able to pass a facility background check
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include assessment and treatment of patients undergoing substance withdrawal, monitoring during Suboxone induction, and medication administration including Suboxone and Methadone
• Nurses will be expected to learn all posts within the correctional environment in addition to primary Addictions Medicine duties
• If MOAB certification is not already held, a 4-hour de-escalation course will be provided during the first week; failure to pass may result in contract cancellation
• COVID vaccination is optional; documentation of vaccine series or a signed declination form will be required for reporting purposes
• Black scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior experience preferred
• RTO exceeding 7 days requires approval
• New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
• RQI certifications are not accepted
