American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level II trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring ACLS, NIHSS, and Epic experience with 12-hour night shifts.

Details

• Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a Level II trauma hospital setting
• 35-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5, with nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
• Charting via Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
• Every other weekend required
• Every third holiday required
• Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current certifications required (no pending): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience
• Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility — a driver's license is required for consideration and used to verify permanent address
• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of onboarding during the first week followed by 1–2 days of floor-specific orientation
• RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% — failure to pass results in contract termination
• Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
• A fast-paced unit where success depends on a positive attitude, effective communication, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills
• RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit facilities may still be considered
