American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Case Management position in Rapid City, SD, requiring acute care case management experience and Epic proficiency.

• Full-time position in the Case Management unit of an acute care hospital
• RN Case Managers provide care for patients across all acute care departments
• Caseload ratio of approximately 1 CM to 16–20 patients
• Responsibilities include discharge planning, progression of care, and family care plan discussions
• Epic EMR experience required
• 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• 40 hours per week
• Weekend rotation of 2 weekends per 13-week contract
• Typical weekend staffing includes 3 RN Case Managers, 1 Social Worker, 1 Lead Case Manager, 1 Case Manager Assistant, and 1 Utilization Review Nurse
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to multiple units is not typically required for travelers

Requirements

• Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state license valid in SD
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience
• Previous acute care case management experience required, including discharge planning and progression of care
• Experience meeting with patients and families to discuss plans of care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Case Management Assistants, Lead Case Managers, Social Workers, Utilization Review RNs, and Hospitalists
• Orientation is approximately 1.5 weeks, including an Epic training class
• Holiday coverage expected for 2 out of 4 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; a full week off requires a contract extension
• No RTO approved during the Sturgis Bike Rally (typically the first 2–3 weeks of August)
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs or professional attire
• Free parking available on site
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to be eligible
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
