American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV Neonatal ICU position requiring a BSN, NRP, and STABLE certification with night shift availability.

Details

• Level IV NICU in an acute care hospital setting, located on Floor 2 with 61 beds across 24 rooms
• Patient population includes premature infants (22 weeks and above), respiratory distress cases, surgical patients (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs), and feeder/growers
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–3
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Morphine, Dopamine, and Epinephrine
• RT equipment includes Drager, Servo, HFJV, HFOV, Nava, CPAP, and Nasal Cannula
• Charting is done in Epic
• Night shift, 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts
• Weekend coverage is assigned based on unit need
• Travelers are first to float; floating may occur to Peds, PICU, Nursery, or Mother Baby (with orientation if needed), as well as to affiliated lower-acuity NICUs at sister facilities
• No call or standby requirement
• No self-scheduling; the scheduler works with the traveler to build the schedule with no more than 5 consecutive shifts
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Idaho RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required if NICU is the candidate's only RN experience; minimum 1 year of NICU experience required if the candidate has additional RN experience in other settings
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), NRP, and STABLE
• Epic EMR experience
• Valid driver's license required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Charge RNs do not take patient assignments; travelers will not be placed in the charge RN role
• 1–2 nurse aides/patient care techs are available per shift
• NNP and neonatologist are on-site 24/7
• No monitor techs on this unit
• Orientation consists of 2 unit-specific shifts plus 1 shift with the unit educator to review unit standards
• Holiday coverage required based on unit need
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
• Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
• Scrubs must be hospital blue or personal scrubs of the candidate's choice
