American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ED Holds/Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring a strong cardiac telemetry background and the ability to titrate drips.

• Acute care setting, Level I Trauma Center in Arizona
• ED Holds/Telemetry unit caring for ED patients awaiting inpatient bed placement, primarily MS/Tele diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
• Must work 2 of 4 major holidays, rotating with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling available, though subject to change
• Travelers are first to float; may float to med/surg, tele, overflow units, and to additional ED campuses as needed
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No ventilator management required; CPAP/BiPAP may be present
• Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)
• ED PCTs available on unit; no monitor techs — RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, within the past 6 months
• Strong cardiac telemetry background required; ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
• Experience titrating drips required (common drips include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone)
• Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts maximum) prior to offer confirmation
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (as verified by driver's license) to qualify for travel pay rates

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include caring for ED patients awaiting inpatient placement, with a heavier focus on telemetry patients than medical/surgical patients
• May assist with ED patient tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments
• Orientation consists of 2 shifts on the Med/Surg/Tele unit at the primary campus
• A pass/fail simulation lab on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is conducted on the first day of orientation — study guides will be provided
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
