American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric Oncology RN for a 13-week travel contract at a proton therapy center in San Diego, CA, requiring a CA RN license and a minimum of 4 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in pediatric hematology/oncology.

Details

• Position is based at a pediatric proton therapy center in San Diego, CA
• Pediatric oncology unit serving an average of 15–25 patients per day, with diagnoses including brain tumors, Ewing's Sarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma, lymphoma, neuroblastoma, leukemia, hemophilia, and sickle cell anemia
• Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) cases included in patient population
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with variable start times between 0600 and 0830 depending on patient volume
• No weekend requirements under normal circumstances; occasional weekend shifts may be required to make up for proton beam downtime
• No on-call requirements
• No floating within or to sister facilities required
• Major holidays off
• Charting performed in Epic
• Free parking available for travelers

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; pending CA RN license accepted if a confirmed ETA from the licensing board is available
• Current BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 4 years of experience as an RN required
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric hematology/oncology experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting required
• Central line maintenance and IV start experience required
• Experience in radiation therapy and/or sedation required
• APHON certification preferred
• CPHON or CPON certification preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Key skills utilized include IV starts, port-a-cath accessing, imaging and radiation treatment under general anesthesia, pre-procedure check-in, PACU recovery, central line maintenance, and medication administration
