American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level 4 Neonatal ICU position at an acute care, Level 1 trauma facility in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and active AZ or Compact RN license.

Details

• Level 4 NICU in an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital setting
• 71-bed unit, including 17 stepdown beds and 4 private rooms
• Patient population includes premature infants and neonates with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical needs, ECMO, and cooling therapy
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 (ICU) and 1:3 (Level 2)
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (every 3rd weekend)
• Holiday coverage required for 3 of 6 major holidays
• Floating may be required to Mother/Baby or Labor & Delivery (babies only)
• Phillips telemetry monitoring in use; ventilators managed by Respiratory Therapy
• Neonatologist and midlevels available 24/7; RT and NICU pharmacy on-site

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
• Level 3 or Level 4 NICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and Cardiac STABLE Plus — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam with a score of 80% or higher prior to offer confirmation — two attempts are allowed
• On Day 1 of orientation, all RNs must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering Foley catheter insertion; competency in sterile field technique is essential, as nurses have been terminated for breaking sterile field during this assessment
• Orientation includes additional educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• Floor-specific orientation is 2–3 days on the unit
• A manager interview is required as part of the selection process
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Navy scrubs required
• Charge nurses carry no patient assignment and serve as a high-risk RN resource; one PCT is available per shift
