American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatrics unit position requiring chemo administration skills, PALS certification, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Pediatrics unit serving patients ages 0–17, including medical-surgical and hematology/oncology cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45–19:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Float requirement to PICU and NICU
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
• 13-week contract minimum; longer extensions considered

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
• Current certifications required: BLS and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Chemotherapy administration experience required
• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required (may be pending at time of consideration)
• IV start and lab draw experience preferred
• Chemo certification preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they meet the 2-year experience requirement
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different pay rate
• Candidates who have previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover as permanent, PRN, or per diem staff must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• Unit orientation is 24 hours; hospital orientation occurs during week one and requires daily availability for classes
• Pre-start modules of approximately 8–10 hours must be completed prior to the assignment start date and annually thereafter
• Scrubs are not provided; fun/themed pediatric tops with navy pants are the expected dress code
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday
• Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and can accommodate different schedules
