American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center specializing in ENT and ophthalmology, with scrub experience and strong ENT skills required.

• Fast-paced ambulatory surgery center (ASC) with 6 ORs specializing in ENT and eye surgery
• Patient population spans all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Cases include ENT surgery, cataracts, ocular plastics, and head and neck procedures
• Required ENT procedures include endoscopic sinus procedures, laparoscopic-assisted cases, laryngectomy, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, radical neck dissection, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and tracheostomy
• Required pediatric ENT procedures include myringotomy with tubes and tonsillectomy/adenoids
• Preferred experience includes pediatric general OR and ophthalmology procedures such as cataract extraction, corneal transplant, glaucoma surgery, and vitrectomy
• Preferred equipment experience includes electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 7:00–16:00
• Scheduled per unit needs
• No call, float, or weekend requirements
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Average daily census of 45 visits across 6 ORs

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
• Ambulatory OR setting experience required
• Scrub experience required
• Strong ENT surgical scrub experience required, including adult and pediatric cases
• Emergency management competencies required: code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocol, and malignant hyperthermia management
• Professional skills required: specimen handling/labeling and universal protocol (time-out) procedure
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 2 years are highly preferred; references may be pending at time of consideration but must be on file prior to start

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Orientation is approximately 40 hours and is conducted weekly
• Pre-start online modules (approximately 4–5 hours for non-acute roles) are required and must be completed before the assignment begins; modules are also required annually
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they can scrub and have strong ENT experience
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent, PRN, or contract staff must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered at a different rate
• Travel pairs are permitted, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is flexible with differing schedules
• Longer contract extensions beyond 13 weeks may be available
