American Traveler is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) for a CVOR/Surgical Services position requiring at least 2 years of OR experience with proficiency in Neuro, Ortho, ENT, Trauma, and Robotics.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital Surgical Services department with 12 ORs, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
• Surgical patient population including Urology, Neuro, Ortho, Robotic, General, Podiatry, and ENT cases
• Patient ratios: OR 1:1, Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase I 1:1 or 1:2 (based on acuity), PACU Phase II 1:2-3
• 8-hour variable shifts, 40 hours per week
• CVOR on-call: one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every 3rd weekend (Friday 1500 – Monday 0700); 15-minute response time required
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• May float to Central Sterile Processing as needed
• Charting system: Epic
• Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 4 major holidays

Requirements

• Active SD or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications for CST: BLS; CST-NBSTSA preferred
• Required certifications for SFA: BLS plus one of the following — CSFA (NBSTSA or NCCSA), SA-C, CSA, or CRNFA (ASBA)
• CST education: Associate degree in a healthcare-related field or graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech program (not required if nationally certified)
• SFA education: Associate degree in a healthcare-related field
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center
• Proficiency required in Neuro, Ortho, ENT, Trauma, and Robotics case types
• Da Vinci XI and craniotomy experience required for trauma cases
• 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Surgical team includes RN/First Assist/Surgical Tech, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Leads, HUC, Scheduler, Preference Card Analyst, OR Techs, and Anesthesia
• Facility orientation is 1 week
• Call needs are subject to change based on departmental needs; sleep room available in the Pre-Op/PACU area or break room couches during on-call hours
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking available on site
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler

• Time off requests require manager approval; low census time off may be taken voluntarily without pay
