American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology position requiring IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including port and PICC line access, with an active OH or Compact RN license.

Details

• Outpatient clinic setting within a hematology oncology unit
• Patient population includes hematologic malignancies such as multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and lymphoma, as well as pre- and post-BMT/CAR-T transplant patients
• Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs
• Treatments include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome)
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Procedures include peripheral and central line blood draws, IV placements, port and PICC line access and management, line dressings, EKGs, and injections/immunizations
• Charting performed in Epic
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Weekend coverage is variable based on unit needs
• No blocked or set scheduling; candidates submit preferred schedule requests prior to final schedule posting

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license required
• Active BLS certification required
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including peripheral line starts, central line blood draws, PICC line management, port access, and blood product administration
• Epic EMR experience
• 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
• Oncology experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Local candidates are accepted
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
• All candidates are required to complete Ohio state fingerprinting; candidates outside of Ohio should be prepared to complete this process promptly after accepting an offer — detailed instructions will be provided by the credentialing team
