American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at a Level II Trauma Center in Bangor, ME, requiring at least 1 year of endoscopy experience and an active ME or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital-based endoscopy unit with 6 procedure rooms (4 outpatient, 1 inpatient, 1 advanced procedure room for fluoroscopy, ERCP, EUS, etc.), 11–12 pre-op bays, and 8 PACU bays
• Patient population includes adults and pediatrics, with pediatric assignments made based on comfort level
• Procedure types include colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EGD, sigmoidoscopy, and GI bleeders with banding; preferred experience includes ERCP, fluoroscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, BRAVO/pill cam, and scope-teching
• Average caseload is approximately 36 cases per day
• Patient ratios: intraprocedural 1:1, pre-op 1:4, PACU Phase II 1:3
• Charting via Cerner; Pyxis and Alaris also used
• Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm; no weekend or call requirements for travelers at this time
• Major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) are closed or call-only; minor holidays are staffed as usual
• Float between pre-procedure, intraprocedural circulating, intraprocedural scrubbing, and post-procedure roles as needed

Requirements

• Active ME or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of endoscopy RN experience required
• Pre-procedure, intraprocedural, and post-procedure nursing experience required
• IV start proficiency required
• Scrub/tech experience (room prep, scope cleaning, proceduralist assistance) highly preferred
• Cerner experience preferred
• Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME
• No previous permanent employment at any Northern Light Health Hospital
• References required: 2 within the past year, at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start
• Full SSN, copies of all certifications, and a valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit is supported by a team of 19–24 RNs, a charge RN, sterile processing department, 15 rotating physicians, and anesthesia available Monday–Friday for all 6 rooms
• Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 4 days of unit-specific orientation

• Scrubs are provided by the facility

• First-time travelers may be considered with 3+ years of endoscopy experience
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration
• Candidates living 100+ miles north of Bangor, ME require individual approval by facility nursing leadership and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
