American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Correctional setting in Albuquerque, NM, requiring at least 1 year of experience and MOAB certification (or willingness to complete the course upon hire).

Details

• Work in a correctional detention center serving an average daily population of approximately 1,640 inmates (facility capacity ~1,900)
• Nursing care is delivered across multiple areas within the facility, with patient volume varying by unit and day
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (6:00–18:30)
• 36-hour contracts with every other weekend required
• Block scheduling can be accommodated
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Required skills include phlebotomy, IV insertion, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and isolation precautions
• Free on-site parking is available

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and MOAB (MOAB will be provided by the facility if not already held; candidates must pass a 4-hour de-escalation course during the first week)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Must be able to pass a facility background check
• COVID vaccination required; religious or medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
• Proficiency with phlebotomy, IV insertion, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen delivery devices, and isolation precautions
• RQI certifications are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide routine and emergency healthcare to incarcerated patients
• Responsibilities include health assessments, triage of newly admitted patients, detoxification rounds per protocol, and referrals to providers, dental, and mental health professionals
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior correctional nursing experience is preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
• New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in length
• All time off and scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
