American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) travel assignment at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring at least 1 year of CVICU experience and night shift availability.

Details

• 18-bed CVICU within an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Patient population includes open heart, complex thoracic and vascular surgical patients, as well as complex cases from the cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, ER, and clinic
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1
• Patients are supported by advanced devices including Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
• RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• RNs must independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips — no monitor techs on unit
• RNs manage respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Charting is performed in Epic
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday or as needed based on unit needs
• Floating required to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with CVICU patient population required
• Experience with advanced cardiac monitoring and strip interpretation required
• Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify permanent residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

• Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity; candidates who were employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• RNs will complete a pass/fail, open-book skills exam on the first Friday of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass; failure may result in contract termination
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
• A charge nurse is present on every shift; intensivist and hospitalist are both in-house 24/7; no CNAs on the unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
• RTO must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
