American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Ambulatory Surgery Center PACU position requiring ACLS, PALS, and a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a strong preference for surgical eye case experience.

Details

• Work setting is an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) focused on ophthalmology and related surgical specialties
• Patient population ranges from 6 months to 95 years of age, requiring broad age-specific competency
• Phase 1 PACU recovery responsibilities, including airway management and pain/nausea management post-operatively
• Familiarity with surgical eye cases strongly preferred, including cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, and plastics procedures
• Day shift, 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week (40 hours per week)

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC) required
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Strong IV skills required, including initiating, regulating, and monitoring IV infusions
• Experience performing patient interviews, assessments, and instilling prescribed ophthalmic drops
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Responsible for recovering Phase 1 PACU patients, managing airways, and addressing post-operative pain and nausea
• Assists physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Obtains and monitors physiological data, intervening as clinically necessary
• Administers medications and manages IV infusions and blood products as prescribed
• Communicates care plans and discharge information to patients and families
• Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff as needed
• Fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new contract (after a maximum of 26 weeks/one extension)
• Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer
