American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Colorado, requiring at least 2 years of high-risk L&D experience and the ability to circulate C-sections in the OR.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated L&D unit featuring 22 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds
• Trauma Level III facility with a Level III NICU; APPs are in-house 24/7, though neonatologists are not
• Patient population includes laboring patients, C-sections, pre-eclampsia, infant of diabetic mother (IDM), and a variety of antepartum complications
• Approximately 8–12 births per day, ~250/month, and ~2,900/year
• RNs are required to titrate drips including oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
• RNs must read their own fetal monitor strips; GE Corometrics EFM system is used
• Charting is performed in Epic
• 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend (EOW)
• 18 hours of on-call required per 6-week period, scheduled in 6-hour increments
• Travelers are first to float to the postpartum unit
• Surgical techs are present on the unit; charge nurses do not take patient assignments
• Anesthesia is in-house 24/7
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of high-risk L&D experience required
• Must be able to circulate C-sections in the OR
• Epic EMR experience
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for high-risk laboring patients, assisting with C-sections, managing titratable drips, and monitoring fetal strips
• Travelers follow a self-scheduling process but are expected to fill in gaps where needed within reason
• Holiday coverage is required
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Orientation consists of 1 shift on-unit; clinicians must be on-site for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
