American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a MD or compact RN license and at least 2 years of PACU experience, working 4x10-hour day shifts with on-call responsibilities.

Details

• Work in the PACU of a hospital setting, covering Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
• Patient population includes both pediatric and adult surgical patients
• Surgical specialties covered include general surgery, orthopedics, GYN, urology, vascular, podiatry, ENT, and pediatric cases (dental, tonsillectomy, T&A, PE tubes)
• Average daily census of 15 patients
• ICU-level recoveries are typically transferred directly to the ICU, but may be recovered in PACU for up to 1 hour when bed management requires
• Works closely with anesthesia providers
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts (40 hrs/week), with primary hours of 08:00–18:30 and one rotating late day per week (09:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement is on-call only
• On-call requirement includes 1 weekday on-call shift per week and 1 weekend on-call shift (Saturday and Sunday) per 4-week period; weekend call is 24-hour call and the weekday schedule is adjusted to accommodate
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating may be required to pre-op and within specialty as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license for the state of Maryland (MD) or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), PALS, and CPI
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• ICU experience preferred
• Comfort with pediatric patient recovery, including pediatric dental, tonsillectomy, T&A, and PE tube cases

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted, provided they have strong PACU experience, ideally with an ICU background
