American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel contract in Wheeling, WV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and rotating day/night shifts.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting (30-bed unit)
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases (appendectomy, cholecystectomy)
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7; candidates must be comfortable with a 1:7 ratio
• Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BiPAP used; no ventilators on the unit
• Heparin drip titration based on aPTT results is required
• RNs are supported by PCTs on the unit; one charge RN on the floor carries an assignment
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts
• Scheduling managed through Qgenda
• Weekends required as scheduled, typically every other weekend
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Travelers are floated first based on census needs
• Epic EMR used in this position
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• Comfortable with 1:6-7 patient ratios, up to 1:7
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Any licensing issues or hits must be disclosed at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Navy blue scrubs required
• 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN); if the candidate worked a permanent position in the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that facility
• A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
