American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric PACU position at a top-ranked children's hospital in San Diego, requiring at least 1 year of pediatric hospital experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Pediatric PACU unit with 38 beds in a nationally recognized, Magnet-designated, Level 1 trauma children's teaching hospital in San Diego, CA
• Patient ratios: 1:1–2 in the PACU and 1:3–4 in the discharge area
• 4x10-hour day shifts with variable start times between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, with potential for earlier starts based on department need
• Weekend availability required with full flexibility to be scheduled as needed (no fixed weekend requirement)
• On-call required: 1 call shift per weeknight or 1 call shift every other weekend as needed, plus 1 holiday call shift as needed
• Charting performed in Epic
• No floating within the facility or to sister facilities
• Free parking available for travelers

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; pending licensure accepted if an ETA for posting is available
• Current BLS/CPR (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric hospital experience required, ideally in Pedi PACU or Pedi PICU
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• Critical care experience required
• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Proficiency in airway management, ventilator management, extubation, pain control, cardiac monitoring, fluid and electrolyte management, and discharge instruction
• Local candidates are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Nurses with Pedi PICU backgrounds will be considered; PACU-specific training can be provided for qualified PICU candidates
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 4 days for the duration of the 8-week contract; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable

• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
