American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring at least 1 year of Level 1 Trauma and CTICU experience, working night shifts at a major academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC.

Details

• 40-bed Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care unit within an academic medical center
• Primary surgical procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve repair and replacement, heart transplants, lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complex esophageal, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Every other holiday (EOH) required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact license valid in NC required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC) and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) focused experience required
• Minimum education: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing program; BSN or MSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include complex patient assessment, care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning, and bedside point-of-care testing
• Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process
• Engages in performance improvement activities, professional development, and unit goal achievement
• Drug screening results are required prior to start; candidates should be prepared to report to the lab promptly upon committing to the position
