American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a travel contract at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital in the St. Louis, MO area, with chemotherapy administration skills and a valid MO or compact RN license required.

Details

• Work in an outpatient oncology/infusion setting within a large Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma academic medical center system
• Treatment area consists of 40 chairs/beds with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and an average daily caseload of 8-9 patients
• Shift schedule is Monday–Friday, daytime hours (shift start times range from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 8-hour shifts); no weekends or holidays required
• Floating is required to other Siteman Cancer Center locations in the St. Louis metro area as needed
• Charting is done in Epic; Epic experience is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand at time of consideration — pending license is not accepted for this position
• Current BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required skills include: administration of chemotherapy (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, chemotherapy monitoring, central line access (port access, dressing changes, lab draws), and recognition/communication of abnormal lab values
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Oncology experience is preferred but not required — candidates with strong chemotherapy administration skills will be considered
• Scrub color: navy and blue white
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• No more than 3 tardies or 2 call-ins per 13-week contract; these limits reset each contract period
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel RNs may work at this health system for up to 18 months before a 3-month break in service is required
• Monthly parking passes are available at various rates; travelers should contact the facility's Public Safety department for options and availability
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
