Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an ICU position in Grinnell, IA, requiring at least 24 months of recent ICU experience, active EPIC proficiency, and current travel experience.

Details

• Small critical care unit with 5 ICU beds and 3 stepdown beds
• Patient population includes ventilated patients, BiPAP, AirVO, bariatric surgery, and general surgery cases
• Common drips include propofol, norepinephrine (Levophed), diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, occasionally 1:3 depending on overflow
• Floating may be required between the ICU, stepdown, and a 23-bed Med/Surg unit; candidates should be comfortable caring for 3–5 patients
• Med/Surg unit patient population includes bariatric surgery, orthopedic, and general med/surg patients, with heparin drips
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM start), 36 hours per week
• Every third weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
• Minimum 24 months of recent, current ICU/intensive care experience required
• Current travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Med/Surg experience strongly encouraged due to floating between ICU, stepdown, and Med/Surg
• Active certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS (AHA or ARC), PALS (AHA or ARC), and TNCC
• NIHSS certification preferred; may be obtained during onboarding
• Driver's license required
• Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU and stepdown patients, including management of complex drips and ventilated patients
• Candidates who have worked at this facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible for consideration
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply
• NIHSS certification is preferred but can be obtained during onboarding if not already active
