American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) travel position requiring at least 2 years of experience, strong autonomy, and active ACLS, NRP, AWHONN, and BLS certifications.

Details

• LDRP unit providing care to both mother and baby in a small, lower-volume department with higher acuity and high-risk cases
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1–2
• Approximately 100 births occurred in the unit over the past year, reflecting a lower-volume but higher-acuity environment
• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekends required based on departmental needs
• Floating required to Med/Surg, CNA, secretary, and/or helping hands roles
• EMR systems in use: Centricity and Meditech Magic
• Fetal heart monitoring skills required
• Schedule is manager-assigned

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required; may be submitted with license pending
• Current certifications required: ACLS, NRP, AWHONN, and BLS
• Minimum 2 years of relevant L&D RN experience required
• Strong fetal heart monitoring skills required
• Ability to work with significant autonomy in a small department setting
• Two professional manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive LDRP care including labor support, delivery assistance, and postpartum/newborn care
• Strong clinical autonomy is essential due to the small size of the department
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Weekly orientation provided; pre-start modules (8–10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment (orientation)
• Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be placed at a local pay rate
• Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
• This position is open to first-time travelers
