American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an LDRP (Labor & Delivery/Postpartum) position requiring at least 3 years of L&D experience, NRP and STABLE certifications, and the ability to circulate C-sections and provide couplet care on night shifts.

• Work in a 14-bed LDRP unit within an acute care hospital setting, where patients remain in the same room throughout their stay
• Unit includes 2 OR suites for C-sections (RNs circulate and scrub) and 4 triage beds staffed by travelers
• Patient population includes 32+ week gestation patients, HTN patients on magnesium, BACs, TOLACs, gestational diabetes, and some antepartum patients — placenta previa and placenta accreta are not managed on this unit
• Unit serves a diverse community with a high volume of home birth transfers seeking medical intervention and pain management
• Unit averages approximately 90 births per month (1,200/year)
• Staffing follows AWHONN standards: 1:1 labor (2:1 for cervical ripening patients), 1:3 postpartum couplet care, and 1:3 triage (resource nurse activated at 4 triage patients)
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and occasional Insulin protocols
• NICU is embedded within 7 of the LDRP rooms, creating a unique care model
• EMR is Epic (Centricity used for EFM monitoring)
• Night shift: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts
• Weekend requirements are based on unit needs with no set minimum
• Travelers are first to float; floating is within the St. Luke's Treasure Valley system (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) in primary skill set (L&D, postpartum, or antepartum) or as a sitter
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Idaho RN license or compact RN license required (must be active and in hand — pending licenses not accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE
• Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required
• Mother-baby (postpartum couplet care) experience required; 1 year preferred
• Must be proficient in attending vaginal deliveries, completing the first hour of newborn care, triage, circulating C-sections, and providing postpartum couplet care
• Experience with magnesium administration required
• Ability to titrate drips (Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin) required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending deliveries, newborn stabilization and physical assessment within the first 2 hours, triage, circulating C-sections, and providing postpartum couplet care
• Each shift is supported by a charge RN (no patient assignment), a resource RN, an OB hospitalist 24/7, a neonatal NP 24/7, anesthesia in-house 24/7, 1 CST per shift, and a CNA (may be reassigned to HUC duties if needed)
• Orientation consists of 4 unit-specific shifts covering C-section, labor, and postpartum; Epic Curio and compliance assignments must be completed prior to start
• Hospital-issued scrubs are required and must be changed into and out of at the beginning and end of each shift; scrub colors may vary at float sites
• No fingernail lacquer, acrylic nails, or gel nails are permitted due to the embedded NICU model
• Block scheduling is not available; travelers fill scheduling gaps around core staff, with scheduling preferences considered after the first schedule cycle
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs during the contract period
• Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
• Travel duos must have separate vehicles, as floating to different sites during a shift is possible
