American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licensure and a broad cardiac and stepdown skill set.

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Patient population includes cardiac (post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, angiogram), neurological (CVA), renal (pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure), orthopedic (total joint replacements), and general medical-surgical cases
• Clinical skills required include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), rapid response, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management and titration, PCA, procedural sedation, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, phlebotomy, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, feeding tube care, peripheral nerve block catheters, and surgical drain management
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities, including to the Emergency Department for inpatient holding, based on greatest need across all MS/Tele units
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available for this position

Requirements

• Active RN license — both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or a compact license covering both states) must be in hand prior to consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown specialty experience required
• Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months, with no gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year
• Prior experience in a teaching hospital preferred; charge RN experience preferred
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
• 2 professional references required for consideration: at least one must be from a supervisor or above, and the second may be from a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include monitoring and managing a diverse PCU patient population with complex cardiac, neurological, and medical-surgical needs
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage may be required as needed by the unit
• Orientation modules are required and are generally completed prior to the start date; modules average 10–15 hours total
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Travel partner arrangements are not accepted for this position
