American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro position at an acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active Illinois RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 372 staffed beds and Level II Trauma Center designation
• Med/Surg Neuro unit with an average daily census of 32 patients
• Neurological patient population including CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Remote telemetry monitoring and rapid response team utilization

Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license required
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Experience required: telemetry/remote monitoring, rapid response teams, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management
• Experience required: port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts
• Experience required: heparin, insulin, and PCA medication administration
• Experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy management, pre/post thoracic surgery respiratory care
• Experience required: wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, continuous bladder irrigation, and surgical drains
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Level II Trauma experience preferred

• 13-week contract
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation
• Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
